Foxglove – Digitalis purpurea

Foxglove – Digitalis purpurea is our native plant with purple shaded (occasionally white) bell flowers opening on one side of a spire. Will grow happily in a wooded or shady site.  Medicinal. Leaves are used to extract digitalin to treat heart complaints. However, DO NOT TRY THIS YOURSELF. Please leave this to a trained medicinal herbalist as this plant is poisonous.
